‘Bas Ab Bahut Ho Gaya’, the campaign to end violence against women and girls has released an anthem Chulein Aasman on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on March 8th. The campaign is an initiative by Population Foundation of India, along with Farhan Akhtar’s initiative MARD and noted director Feroz Abbas Khan.
The Bas Ab Bahut Ho Gaya- Enough is Enough campaign launched their anthem on International Women’s Day. The anthem Chulein Aasman calls for empowering women by giving them equal opportunities so that they can realise their true potential. The song has been sung by Farhan Akhtar and Salim Merchant, and written by It is written by Farhan along with Shraddha Pandit, and composed by Salim-Suleiman.
The Bas Ab Bahut Ho Gaya digital campaign is an initiative by the Population Foundation of India, Farhan Akhtar’s MARD( Men Against Rape and Discrimination) and director Feroz Abbas Khan.
Poonam Muttreja, Executive Director of Population Foundation of India said that through the anthem Chulein Aasman, there is a call upon all Indians to value girls and women, and to be part of our campaign.
Feroz Abbas Khan added that women can be truly empowered when they cease to fear discrimination and violence, and it was imperative that our men and boys played an active role in making this possible. He said, “Challenge regressive norms, build a new world where equality, dignity and safety for women and girls is a reality – that’s the message we would like to spread on the International Women’s Day."
The campaign includes six short films that narrate the personal experiences of celebrities such as Vidya Balan, Sania Mirza, Barkha Dutt, as well ordinary women who set an example of extraordinary courage. The campaign has reached out to the youth across India through panel discussions on college campuses, a filmmaking contest and a celebrity concert titled ‘Lalkaar’ held in Mumbai in November 2017.
