Posted on January 25, 2016

The Population Foundation of India is participating at the International Conference on Family Planning ICFP 2016 in Bali, Indonesia from January 25 to 28. The theme for this year is ‘Global Commitments, Local Actions’ and PFI will be showcasing and sharing lessons from the its innovative projects like the education entertainment initiative, Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon, which has led to increased awareness of women’s rights and adoption of family planning methods among the target population, and from mShakti, an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), that provides the community an opportunity to give their feedback on health and family planning services at the village and facility level.

The Boat Clinic project in Assam which is being implemented by the Centre for North East Studies and Policy (CNES) and supported by PFI will also be showcased. The boat clinics have been able to improve reproductive health by providing counseling on modern family planning methods to some of the most marginalised communities living on the inaccessible islands on the river Brahamaputra.
